An introduction to Childhood Bereavement and Grief

Aim:  For anyone who comes into contact with children or young people in a school or other organisation. You will increase your understanding of the emotional impact of bereavement and loss on children and young people and develop simple skills to support them in their grief.

Location: Via zoom/teams or onsite at your school/organisation

Understanding Childhood Bereavement and Grief

Aim:  For anyone who is already working with or would like to work with children or young people to deepen an understanding of the emotional impact of bereavement and provide practical tools to improve skills to better support children or young people affected by bereavement and loss. 

Costs: Full day £120 / Half day £95

Learning:

• To develop knowledge of how children and young people understand and respond cognitively, emotionally and physically to bereavement and loss at each developmental stage.
• To explore a child’s natural attachment process and subsequent impacts of loss
• To develop the skills of empathetic listening and knowledge of practical strategies to increase your confidence in supporting bereaved children and young people.
• To empower you to cope with challenging conversations around death.
• To share strategies and resources to support children and families affected by loss.
• To identify your own experience of loss and the potential impact of this when supporting the grief of others as well as your own self-care.

Communication Through Play and Creativity

Aim:  For anyone who is seeking to improve their practical skills to better support children or young people affected by bereavement and loss.  You will increase your understanding of how special play sessions can help children who have had difficult life experiences which are impacting on their learning and behaviour.

Cost: Full day £120 / Half day £95
