The fifth iteration of a family-fun filled fundraiser was a roaring success, as 37 teams took to the Trent vying to become champion.

Newark’s Dragon Boat Festival, is a joint event by Beaumond House and the Children’s Bereavement Centre, took place at Riverside Park on Sunday (September 15).

There was a huge variety of activities, from inflatables to a climbing wall, Inspire’s friendly dragons Inferno and Sapphire, entertainment from AJ’s School of Dance, Barnby Road Primary Academy, The Rogue Shanty Buoys and more, as well as food and drink stalls — but the main attraction was on the water as the Dragon Boats racing took place.

It saw the biggest turnout of teams in the event’s history — with worthy winners team Jason and the Argonauts of Jason's Motor Repairs taking first place with an impressive time of 57.06 seconds.
